Given we spend an increasing amount of time at home, the owner of this 809 square foot apartment was eager to create a home that felt bright and spacious, embodying a resort-style vibe. And thanks to Chris Kwong, Ian Leung and their team from FNW Design & Decoration, her dreams have come true, resulting in a delicate and feminine home that by far belies its diminutive footprint.

In order to achieve this, Kwong first needed to make a couple of structural changes that would help ensure he met the owner’s brief. As a result, he began work by knocking down a partitioning wall in order to incorporate one of the three original bedrooms into the main living and dining area. He also knocked down the wall to the kitchen, opening up the area and making it feel much more spacious.

Kwong then introduced a pastel colour palette, rich in shades of buttercup yellow, baby pink and white that softens the style. The lounge area houses a simple white L-shaped sofa and contemporary pale grey armchair that sit elegantly around a pair of marble-topped nesting tables. A muted blue rug and a brass ceiling fan up above add a colonial vibe, which perfectly offsets the owner’s collection of bold and colourful art. And finally, the vast expanse of floor-to-ceiling windows that lead on to the balcony have been softened thanks to pure white hanging curtains.
